2023 Outdoorsy Amazon Holiday Gift Guide

2023 Outdoorsy Amazon Holiday Gift Guide

Winter trees in background of title image with outline of state of Michigan snowflakes and stars

Stuck on what to get your outdoorsy friends, coworkers or relatives for that holiday gift exchange? Have a hiking buddy with paws? Need a last minute stocking stuffer? Something a little bigger? Look no further!

Many of these items on the list are things my family and I use and love. But, I’ve taken that a step further,  I’ve scoured Amazon for you. From that searching (and diligent review reading) compiled ideas at a variety of price points, for anyone left to on your Christmas List! Many of the items I don’t own are items on my own Amazon wishlists.  If you need something new and physical for that gift exchange I got you!

For organization sake, everything is broken out by price point starting at $10 and under on up to $65+. Within those price points I’ve divided everything into the categories of: Everyone, Kids &Babies, Women, Men, and Pets.  I will say I had a difficult time gendering items. I’m well aware outdoor interests have no gender. For the most part they’re broken out that way due to shoes and clothing size, but some items are  are related to more typical interest to men or women. By all means if you are shopping for a female hunter or fisher look in some of the men’s recommendations. Lord knows I wore my fair share of “boy’s” Columbia coats over the years.  Live your truth friends, I’m here for it.

However you or that someone on your list identifies, I hope this gift guide gives you ideas to get you and those you love outdoors!

Valken Backpacking Trowel

This ultralight trowel is on my own Christmas wish list. It serves an obvious perpous for when you gotta go on the trail, weighing in at .63oz and offers some paracord if you need it in a pinch. I will admit it has mixed reviews but for the price, I don’t expect it to perform well in dense dry soil.

Coghlan’s Cast Iron Camp Pie Cooker

Let’s face it, going number one in the great outdoors is a little more difficult for those of us who have to squat to do it. This female urinal is a solution to… well avoiding pee on  your shoes. This design offers an extender to fit into bottles, which is especially helpful in very sensitive environments. It has great reviews from other buyers, and on my own Christmas list. I’m telling you this would have been a game changer for long fishing trips as a kid!

Circle Care Pee Cloth: Silver Infused Pee Rag for Women

This item is in the same vein as the previous item, but offers a solution to a different problem. Squatters have to be able to wipe and this cloth allows you to do so on the trail without having to pack out  used toilet paper… yuck! The silver infusion in the cloth deters the growth of bacteria. Then you just wash it and it’s ready for the next adventure! This one is on my personal Christmas wishlist and has great reviews.

Heyskay Lip balm holder sleeve keychain

This one might seem silly, nut easy to access lip balm is a must. It’s a small elastic tube to stick your chapstick in and it’s on a hook so it won’t get lost in any bag. Windburned lips are the worst. It has good reviews from other buyers.

Chapstick S’mores Collection

The brand name is synonymous with lip balm. The fun flavors of chocolate, graham cracker, or marshmallow will remind the user of their favorite campfire treat! A perfect little stocking stuffer for  a camping lover.

These cards have great reviews. I remember someone having these camping when I was a kid. We played a lot of euchre and pinochle on family camping trips!

Fox River Outdoor Wick Dry Liner Socks

My husband on the other hand, is a big fan of  Fox River. As he has man sized feet, I deferred to him on this recommendation. These liner socks will keep your gift recipient’s toes warm and dry!

Furtalk Beanie Cuffed, Thick Knitted

Anyone could probably wear this but it’s the most masculine Furtalk beanie I’ve seen. I  like my Furtalk beanie, which is  linked in this list later. The one I have is very cozy and this option and has good reviews from other shoppers.

My husband has several of these he keeps in “go bags” and carries for shooting outings and camping trips. Definitely a great stocking stuffer for anyone outdoorsy in your life!

Hikenture Camping Pillow

This ultralight “luxury” backpacking item is on my personal Christmas wish list. It obviously has a low weight of 5oz and I know that every ounce counts, but have you ever had a goodnight sleep using balled up clothing as a pillow? I think not. It has a removable, washable cover, a compact carrying pouch, and is good for all sleep positions. Bring your backpacker buddy some comfort this holiday season and get them this one!

Portable Propane or Isobutane Camp Stove

This camp stove is on my wishlist too. It’s a bit heavier than some other options, at 10.62 oz, so if you’re buying for an ultralight backpacker, this one might not be the gift. But, I like it  because it can be used with both isobutane or (with the help of the included adapter) propane. It’s good to have options!

Narrow Mouth Nalgene Bottle 32 oz

Ahh Nalgene, the durable bpa free water bottle many outdoor enthusiasts love. There are even models with built in filtration systems now. My husband and I are big fans our wide mouth bottles. Survivor Kid: A Practical Guide to Wilderness Survival by Denise Long

As a kid I loved pretending I was a survivalist in the woods. Maybe that was just me, maybe it was reading Hatchet by Gary Paulson, and memorizing as much of it as possible, for a totally normal competitive reading reasons. I was really good at Book Bowl. Anyway, this book makes me think it’s a common childhood interest. Honestly, this book has some great information on how to survive if a kiddo finds themselves lost in the wilderness. It has good reviews from other shoppers as well! So grab this, and maybe a copy of Hatchet for your adventure reader.

Trail Buddy Trekking Poles

Product image of woman using pink trek poles wearing backpack with all of the features of the poles surrounding her
Image from product listing on Amazon.com

These are something my family owns and uses regularly. My husband and I both like this particular set because they’re adjustable to user height. If you’re new here he’s 6’1” and I’m about 5’4” so we need adjustable if we’re both using a product. These offer different feet for a variety of terrain types too. They aren’t a bad price for a first set of trek poles, I’d just ensure all the nuts are on tight i have had one of the lock offs swing open on me before.

When it comes to bird hunting or dog training recommendations, I’m going to turn to my dad. When I asked him if he had any favorite brands or products he mentioned Dokken. I’ve seen him use this Canada Goose dead fowl with his field Goldens. He has 5 and they all have been, or are being trained in the case of the pup, to be hunting dogs. But, don’t let that lead you to believe they aren’t as much babies as my sister and I. This dead fowl has some weight to it and gets a dog comfortable with carrying an awkward, hefty, goose. Beyond my dad’s recommendation other shoppers left good reviews as well.

Paw Giant Dog Fence Playpen 40” 8  Panel

If you camp with an RV or camper and have a dog sometimes a tie out isn’t the best option. This Paw Giant dog fence may be an option when a tie out isn’t at a campground.  This playpen/ fence is adjustable and can be totally modified to the user and their pets’ needs.

That’s it! I hope this list offered some inspiration if you’ve been racking your brain trying to figure out what to get for your granola girls, fishermen, adventurer kids and pets!

Now this is not to say you have to buy physical items. Outdoor enthusiasts love experience based gifts. So if you’re looking for ideas along those lines, park passes, hunting and fishing licenses, etc.may be better option. I’ll also encourage you to shop second hand for gear and clothing, Geartrade, Moosejaw Retrail, and REI Resuply are all great options for used gear. I’ve also had great luck getting outside apparel from Threadup. By all means buy used if possible!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
